The news was delivered by Karl’s brother Mark this morning, and I cannot thank him enough for taking the time out of his own grieving to inform everyone of Karl’s passing.
Losing any member is difficult enough, but Karl has been providing information, photos and more for longer than there has been a Multitool.org.
I first met Karl (online anyway, I unfortunately never had the opportunity to meet him in person) many years ago on another forum. I was the moderator for a group called The Secret Order of Swiss Army Knives, the predecessor to our own Swiss Army Knights group, at Knifeforums.com. Back in those days, digital photography was still in its infancy, and I remember Karl sending me photographs (yes, from film!) through the mail to scan and post on the forum for him.
I could go on for hours, but I am also still in shock at the news, so I will cut this short.
Karl, there is no way to quantify what you meant to this bag of misfits on the internet, but the hole we are left with is greater than 91mm.
My sincerest condolences, on behalf of all of his online family to his real-life family, from his internet friends to his personal friends.
Rest in Peace my friend.
You may leave your condolences here on the forum.
